What to Do After Microblading: Your First 14 Days of Care
By Honey Bee Beautiful | October 27, 2026
Quick note: Microblading is a $400 service and it only looks as good as it heals, so your number one rule is simple: keep your brows dry for the first 24 to 48 hours. In West Valley City, that means no direct shower spray, no steam, and no “quick rinse” that turns into soaked brows. Dry time now protects your color later.
I do microblading in the Hunter Town Center area in western West Valley City, and I’m big on aftercare because it’s what keeps your healed brows even, soft, and wearable. If you’re balancing school runs, work, transit, or just a packed week, this guide is meant to be no-fuss. Read it once, screenshot the day-by-day, and you’ll feel a lot more confident about what’s normal.
First 24 to 48 hours: keep microblading dry, calm, and untouched
This is the window where people accidentally undo good work. I generally recommend you treat your brows like fresh, delicate skin that needs to stay clean and dry.
Do this right away: avoid direct water contact and steam for 24 to 48 hours. If you wash your face, work around the brow area and keep it out of the splash zone.
What I want you to do
- Sleep on your back if you can, or at least avoid smashing your brows into the pillow.
- Keep hair products away from your brow area. Shower steam counts, so keep showers quick and not too hot.
- If I sent you home with an ointment recommendation, use a very thin layer. More is not better. Heavy layers can trap moisture and slow healing.
What to skip (even if it’s tempting)
- No swimming, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, or long hot showers.
- No heavy sweating. If you have to move a lot for work, keep it as cool as possible and blot around the area. Don’t rub.
- No makeup on the brows. Keep makeup and skincare off the brow area until I tell you it’s safe.
Days 3 to 7: flaking is normal, picking is the fastest way to patchy brows
The first week is where your brows can look “worse before better.” They often get a little dry, then you’ll see flaking. That’s normal. The hard part is leaving it alone.
The rule: don’t pick scabs or flakes. If you pull them off early, you can pull pigment with it. That’s how uneven spots happen.
Day 2 cleansing, kept simple
Starting day 2, I generally recommend gentle cleansing with sterile saline or a cleanser I’ve approved for you. Use a clean pad, clean fingers, or a clean cotton swab. Then pat dry. No rubbing, no scrubbing.
West Valley City tip: dry wind and winter air can speed scabbing
If you’re out around the 3500 South and 5600 West corridor on a windy day, protect your brows. That dry air can make flaking feel intense. A light, approved layer of ointment usually helps, and keeping dust and grime off the area is worth the extra minute.
Days 8 to 14: protect the color while it settles (sun, sweat, skincare)
By week two, most people feel “back to normal, ” which is exactly when they overdo it. Your skin is still finishing the healing process under the surface. Give the pigment time to set evenly.
Keep these off the brow area
- Sun and tanning. UV can fade fresh microblading faster than you think.
- Sweaty workouts, hot yoga, and anything that leaves your face dripping. Light activity is usually fine if you can truly keep sweat away from the brows.
- Facials, chemical exfoliants, peels, and aggressive skincare near the brow. If you book an esthetician for a facial or you’re thinking about microneedling, wait until your brows are fully healed and ask me about timing.
Real-life schedule note: If you’re coming in from Kearns, Taylorsville, Magna, West Jordan, or Salt Lake City, week two is when I see people squeezed for time. Keep a clean pad and saline in your bag so cleansing stays consistent even on busy days.
And yes, you can still enjoy your beauty routine. Just keep products off the brow area until it’s ready. If you’re also doing lash extensions or searching for eyelash extensions near me, I’m happy to help you plan timing so brow healing stays protected.
The “simple routine” that keeps micro blading brows looking even
You don’t need a counter full of products. You need consistency. Here’s what tends to protect results best.
Stick to product types, not experiments
- Cleansing: sterile saline or a gentle cleanser I recommend, starting day 2.
- Moisture: a very thin layer of the ointment I recommend, only as needed. If it feels greasy, it’s too much.
- Hands off: keep fingers, makeup brushes, and brow gels away while you’re healing.
If you’re also doing other services: hold off on brow threading, eyebrow threading close to me searches, brow threading appointments, waxing, and any hair removal around the area until your skin is fully healed. Same goes for tattoo removal sessions anywhere close to the brow area.
What’s normal vs. when I want you to reach out (and when to see a clinician)
A little redness, mild tenderness, and flaking are common. Brows also tend to look darker at first, then lighter as they peel, then they settle into a more even tone. That “color swing” is part of healing.
Reach out to me if you’re worried or unsure. I’d rather answer a quick question than have you guess and accidentally pick at a spot. If you notice increasing redness, pus, spreading warmth, or severe pain, that’s not something to wait on. Get medical advice right away.
"My once non existent eyebrows are now beautiful and Im always getting compliments on them."

Touch-up timing and planning around West Valley City life
Plan on booking your touch-up at 6 to 8 weeks. That timing matters because I want your skin fully healed before we perfect shape, density, and any areas that healed lighter.
If you’re running errands around 3500 South and 5600 West, I can usually keep check-ins and follow-ups straightforward and low downtime. And if you’re also doing lashes near me searches, lash extensions, or lash extensions near me, I can help you schedule so you’re not stacking too many things during the same healing window.
